Guarding the Marriage Covenant
Psalm 138:3 · Mark 10:9
These prayers stand against wrong influence and spiritual forces. Keep praying blessing over your spouse, your in-laws, and your relatives, even while you resist what's working through them.
Starting With Me
- Father, forgive every wrong I've done in the course of my marriage.
- I repent of every careless word I've spoken against my spouse, my children, and my in-laws.
- I cancel every agreement I made, knowingly or not, that works against my marriage.
- Cleanse me from past sins that are still affecting my home.
Against Wrong Counsel
- Lord, bring every wrong counsel in my spouse's life to nothing, as You did with Ahithophel (2 Samuel 17:14).
- Surround my spouse with godly voices.
Family and In-Laws
- Every source of hostility and conflict in my extended family, be exposed and broken.
- Lord, turn every opposition from relatives into blessing.
- I refuse to repeat the broken marriage patterns in my family history.
- Soften the hearts of my in-laws and make our families one.
False Friends and Outside Interference
- Lord, expose every enemy pretending to be a friend.
- Shield my home from the arrows of envy.
- Every outside relationship threatening my marriage, be cut off, in Jesus' name.
- I release myself and my spouse from every strange spiritual attachment.
When Separation Is Threatened
- Lord, You are the righteous Judge. Take this matter into Your hands.
- I refuse to be separated from the spouse You gave me.
- Turn every move toward divorce into a renewal of our vows.
- What God has joined together, no person and no power will separate.
